About The Rails Guild

I built The Rails Guild because I wanted a central place where Rails developers, especially newer developers, could share what they've shipped. I also wanted to have that work vetted in some way. Not just another version of LinkedIn, but a collection of verified work.

A user's apps are verified through a simple verification process, which users manage themselves, and if that checks out, the apps are marked as verified. Visitors to The Rails Guild know they're seeing real work, not just fluff on a resume.

The name for The Rails Guild came from a friend of mine who recently joined the IBEW, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The idea of a guild stuck with me: craftsmanship, standards, people who vouch for the quality of each other's work. That's what I want to create here.

My hope is that The Rails Guild becomes a place where Rails developers who ship can show their work, and where people looking to hire Rails developers can even come to find them.

Why be a patron

For a company or organization that wants Rails developers to know its name, there is no better place to be. Every member has proven they run the apps on their page, so these are people actually putting Rails into production, and the employers who come here to hire them read the same pages.

Your support helps fund hosting and ongoing development, and keeps the guild independent and free for the developers who use it. In return your company/organization is recognized on the site as a patron, in front of the exact people you want to reach. No ad network, no auction, and no tracking of anyone. Your mark is a plain link in good company.

How it works

Your plaque hangs on the rails flanking the directory on desktop, and rides the scrolling patron bars across the top and bottom of the page on phones. Every page's footer carries your name. Patronage never influences membership, badges, or rank.

Current rate: $50/month, locked in for as long as you stay.
